We're back and gotta say... Brazil fucking rocked. The people, the bands, the country, the shows, everything was amazing. We had no idea what to expect, but everything exceeded our
expectations and more. We can't wait to go back and are already talking about the next tour.
First off, gotta thank Tau from EnemyOne Records and his crew Alan and Conrado. If it wasn't for them this would never have happened. They totally took care of us, entertained us, made sure we made it to where ever we needed to be
and basically made sure everyone came back alive.
Second, Jeff Dean. Having this guy on guitar for the tour was amazing. He added a new energy and dynamic to the band and really took our live shows to the next level. We really hope (and think he will) continue with
HP on our future endeavors - which should include recording in the near future since we wrote some songs in Sao Paulo on a day off.
But, with that said I had better talk about Don. It seems after 6 years of
rock Don Meehleis has quit the band. Even though he didn't tell us he quit, he is no longer a part of Horace Pinker. How do I explain what went down? Well, it's kinda like when you're dating a girl and she stops returning your
phone calls... after a few weeks you get the message that it's over... well, that is the situation with Don. He knew about the Brazil tour and had verbally committed to be a part of it, but when it came time to go
he was MIA. It's a real shame because we consider him part of the family and he will be missed. The crazy thing, with his departure comes the end of the longest line up HP has ever had... pretty sad.
Third, gotta thank our tour bands Mukeka Di Rato, Boom Boom Kid, Colligere, Carbona, and The Bombers. Everyone was so cool and we had such a great time sharing the stage with them every night. We especially want to thank Carbona!
Henrique and Pedro took us into their homes on our day off and showed us their city of Rio de Janeiro. It was one of the best times on the tour and we look forward to hanging with those guys again.
Last but not least... our ambassador of goodwill, Mr. Jim Yelenick. How did we ever do a tour without Jim? I have no idea, but it will never happen again.
Anyway, I will be posting pictures and videos in the near future, so check back for more updates.
thanks -
bryan
