well, i know it's been a long time since we had an hp update and i have been putting one together, but i just received this email from an old friend of ours
in germany and i thought i would post it.
it was 10 years ago this past month that we first toured europe (even though it was pretty much just germany) and on that first
tour we met a few people that would become long time friends. well, robin was one of those people and we look forward to seeing him every tour.
anyway, when you're in a band for this long and have not really made "the big time" like a lot of your peers, sometimes you wonder why you even bother to do it
anymore. it takes so much time, money, and effort to do this and it's one of the hardest jobs i have ever had (or had the good fortune of having) and when
people ask me why we still do this...i think of emails like this:

Hey H.P.'s!
Today's a special day and so I would like to tell a little story about what
happened on May 11th in 1994...
It was clear blue sky and five guys (that played in a band called "Salty Pork")
met to play a jam session in a cellar, just to get into good moods to visit the
punkrock-show at night, but they soon quit playing, because of the great weather
outside. After a few phonecalls the new plan was to meet at the schoolyard in
Lengede to go skateboarding and drinking a beer (or two). After getting mobile
(asking Robins uncle to drive them by car) they were on the way. But before
arriving there, plans had to be changed, because Robin had forgotten his ticket
for the show and so they had to drive back.
(...)
Having a great time at the schoolyard, they started to walk to the "Fabrik" in
Lengede not expecting it's gonna be that awesome tonight.
There were bands like "Beef Jerkey's", "Things change" and "Inhuman choice"
playing and the punkrocking skaters of the afternoon enjoyed the whole party.
(...)
And then there was stagediving...
Horace Pinker rocked that club (in the middle of the night) making the whole
location into an area of fun for those guys. It was really late and most of the
people of the audience already left the location and went home, but those kids
did not stop climbing onto stage, jumping around and clapping the hands to hear
ONLY ONE MORE SONG of the ass-kicking american Punkrock-band...
(...)
After the show the guys bought the band's new released CD/LP "Powertools", a
T-shirt and got some stickers for free.
The following night was a night without sleep for some of them, because they
could not believe that great show, where it seemed to be that american band
played some additional songs just for them (about 10 or 15 guys)...
(...)
It has been a long time since then (exactly 10 years) and I guess I'm the only
one left of the guys still thinking about the time in the past, but it's a good
feeling at all.
Let me say "THANK YOU" for all the great times in the years 1994-2004 in
LENGEDE, SALZGITTER, HANNOVER, HILDESHEIM, LEHRTE, MUENSTER, ZEITZ and DRESDEN
and let me tell you:
Even if you'll quit playing in HORACE PINKER, I will keep the name alive and
tell everyone:
"YOU WILL NEVER MEET SUCH NICE GUYS AGAIN IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE!"
Cheers,
Robin
Keep in touch !!!
