copper regret story
i think this record takes pop culture failure up to the next level.
written and recorded in about 2 weeks it turned out to be the best thing
we have ever done and it was our first recording with the new line-up.
this is a great preview of the new record to come...which we will be
recording summer 2002. - bryan
copper regret reviews amg
expert review for a band like horace pinker who has been paying
their dues for eight years prior to this ep, it must annoy them that they're
getting a lot more attention with the accompanied press of 'featuring
ex-jawbreaker bassist chris bauermeister.' the truth is that horace pinker
is a mature pop-punk band whose lyrical honesty resulted in the placement
of being 'emo influenced.' even though the "e-word" is more of an insult
than a label, it's not as insulting as being viewed as a band that now
has bauermeister from jawbreaker; as if everything else that horace pinker
has done doesn't matter anymore. copper regret doesn't break any new ground
for horace pinker; the aforementioned emo-soaked pop of hard-hitting melodies
have been heard on their previous albums. at the same time, the likes
of samiam, jawbreaker, and face to face (when they were good) have already
covered and mastered this formula. however, copper regret manages to stray
away from the generic humdrum of this genre by producing an established
composite of tight pop-punk that doesn't fade into a monotony cycle. a
great ep that should be recognized for the music rather than who's in
than band. - mike daronco

geez, nothing in years it seems like, then two releases in one month or so?
i guess they're serious this time around! this one was recorder after chris
bauermesiter from jawbreaker joined on bass, and it sounds like his influences
are already being felt a bit. the songs have slightly slower pace than their
other work, and a little more of the emo pop punk feel that jawbreaker was known
for. they still sound great, and i probably like this more than their other cd i
reviewed here; the songwriting just seems more mature and a little more vaired,
and as always the vocals have great range and the playing is tight as
hell. gotta say, for a band that's been around as long as they have been,
it's nice to see some growth, and this bodes well for their future. - steve

there are a lot of bands that sound like horace pinker. thereıs face to face and a host of others
that worship at the altar of pegboy roaming the punk rock circuit. this isnıt a new phenomenon, as
jawbreaker dipped into that well over a decade ago. how fitting that jawbreaker bass maestro chris bauermeister
is now playing with the hp boys. kind of ties up the whole package kind of nicely. this five song ep is the
record that you want in your car this summer. great catchy songs thatıll have you in a driverıs education
course working off those points by summerıs end.
